The doorway from the kingdom of darkness back into the Kingdom of Light
is Jesus. We walk through the door by being born again. That
is why Jesus said we must be born again. Being born again happens
in the spirit realm--the realm we cannot perceive with our five physical
senses. When we are born again, our spiritual nature is
changed--we become a new creation in God's Kingdom, the Kingdom of
Light. "Those who become Christians become a new
person. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is
gone. A new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17 New
Living Translation).
So how do we become born again? How does this new birth, being born again,
or being saved happen? How do we walk through the Door? "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. So that everyone who
believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16
New Living Translation). Jesus said that believing in Him is the way that
God provided for our nature to be changed. Believing in Him is the doorway
from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light. That is what the new
birth or being born again, or getting saved, is all about. When we are saved or
born again, our nature is changed from darkness to light. Then we can
fellowship with the Father of Light, God, and His Son, Jesus, through the Holy
Spirit.
Changing our nature is something we don't have the power to do. Being good
enough doesn't change our nature. Just going to church doesn't change our nature. It takes
something beyond our own efforts. It takes someone Who never had the
nature of darkness to help us. Jesus, Who was born of a virgin, by the
power of the Holy Spirit, did just that. Jesus because of His unique
birth, was not born into the kingdom of darkness. He was born into the
Kingdom of Light.
Jesus lived the life that God had planned for Adam to live--sinless, spotless,
in continual, unbroken fellowship with God. Jesus lived the life that God
had planned for all of us to live. He lived His life in perfect obedience
to God in our place. He was our substitute. He did what we could
never have done. By His life, which He lived in perfect obedience in the
Kingdom of Light, He provided the way out of darkness. "'Jesus said to him,
'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me'" (John 14:6).
So how is our nature changed? How are we translated out of the kingdom of
darkness into the Kingdom of Light? How do we become children of
God? By believing in what Jesus did for us and by confessing what we
believe with our mouth. "For if you confess with our mouth that Jesus
is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with
God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved"
(Romans 10:9-10 New Living Translation).
Simply put, when we believe that Jesus lived for us and died for us and God
raised Him from the dead, we are qualified for salvation. When we
confess that Jesus is Lord, we confirm our salvation through what we
believe. Therefore we are saved. Saved from the darkness.
Saved from the power of sin. And saved from the power of Satan. The
kingdom of darkness is no longer our home. We become citizens of the
Kingdom of Light and children of God. The change to our spiritual
nature is instantaneous. We become citizens of the Kingdom of Light in a
moment. Being born again brings God's light back into our spirit.
To be born again, we must believe that Jesus died for us, that God raised Him
from the dead for us and confess Him as our personal Lord. Let's do that
with this prayer:
Awesome God, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I want to be born
again. I renounce Satan and the works of darkness and I ask Jesus to be my
Savior. I believe Jesus lived and died for me. I believe You raised
Him from the dead for my justification. I now confess that Jesus is my
Lord. I submit my life to Him and will live to obey Him from this day
forward. Thank You, Father, I am now Your child, a citizen of the Kingdom
of Light. I am born again in Jesus' Name, Amen.
Congratulations! You are born
again, a child of God, with Jesus living inside of you, in the presence
and power of the Holy Spirit.
